This past year has been full of excitement and promise for SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique) and SOTO-USA (Sacro Occipital Technique Organization – USA). In October 2010, I was elected by my peers to assume the Presidency of SOTO-USA. It will be my goal in this position to fulfill the vision of both Major Bertrand De Jarnette and the SOTO-USA membership to spread SOT throughout the world.
Since its inception in 1999, SOTO-USA’s main goal has been to advance the work of Major Bertrand De Jarnette. Since that time we have never faltered from that purpose. It is my desire and vision to see SOT taught in every chiropractic school in the world and utilized by 10’s of thousands of chiropractors in our great profession.
This year alone, besides our Annual Clinical Symposium and Research Conference, our Regional Seminar Program and our SOT Pediatric Program in coordination with the ICPA has spanned the globe. The next year promises to be even more eventful, including the move of our Annual Symposium to May 19-22, 2011 in Nashville, TN.
SOTO-USA was formed out of a burning desire by a dedicated group of De Jarnette certified SOT doctors and craniopaths to make sure his work continued long after his death. These doctors, all trained by De Jarnette, felt a calling to promote and teach Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) in a consistent, congruent and cohesive manner with a new and renewed passion.
After the Major’s death in 1992, I personally made a commitment to keep the work of my mentor available and alive to the chiropractic profession as long as I possibly could and to pass on the knowledge and skills he imbued and instilled within me to as many chiropractors as possible. I have been practicing SOT since 1979 and have never regretted that decision for a day. Over my years with SOTO-USA, ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) and SORSI (Sacro Occipital Research Society International) I have taught thousands of chiropractors the art, science and philosophy of SOT. Now, with a daughter in chiropractic school and a new connection to hundreds of chiropractic students, I am spurred onward with a greater passion and desire to see my beloved technique remain strong and vibrant.
We at SOTO-USA adhere to the tenet that those of us in the chiropractic profession are brothers and sisters to each other and should be treated with mutual respect and admiration. Chiropractic faces enough opposition from the outside to have to endure internal strife as well. We invite all of you to join us in adopting an attitude of acceptance, as well as a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation with our chiropractic brethren.
While we have made enormous strides in the chiropractic profession the utilization of its services over the last 20+ years in the worldwide population has not grown, but actually decreased in percentage. We must hold fast to the vision of our profession working together for the greater good of chiropractic, and in my case SOT, for the potential recipients of this valuable healing art.
We at SOTO-USA will march forward, into the 21st century with our heads held high, our spirits free, our vision clear, and our focus undaunted to continue to uplift the chiropractic profession and the work of Major Bertrand De Jarnette.
We invite anyone who shares our purpose and vision to join us in our quest forward.
Sincerely,
Martin Rosen, DC, CSCP, CSPP
