Cranial dysfunction is an extremely common problem, especially in the event of trauma to the head. Analysis and correction of cranial misalignment, utilizing sacro-occipital technique (SOT), are integral parts of the care provided in may chiropractic practices. The purpose of this discussion is to review the basic concepts of cranial care. The author discusses the causes of cranial problems, reviews symptoms associated with cranial dysfunction, and describes the concepts of cranial corrective procedures. It is important for the practicing chiropractor to be aware of the phenomenon of cranial dysfunction, whether or not he/she incorporates its correction into his/her work.
