Audit of case history and examination procedures for the temporo-mandibular joint in clinical chiropractic practice

Hurst H European Journal of Chiropractic 2001; 47: 39-44

Audit is a systematic quantified comparison of current practice against explicit standards in order to  improve quality of care for patients. Various studies have implied that there is considerable overlap in the signs and symptoms of temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, and those of cervical spine disorders.  It is possible that patients with head and neck pain who fail to respond to cervical manipulation may have a TMJ problem. The present paper suggests a basis for case history and examination procedures for TMj dysfunction.
