Plaugher G, Meeker W, Shelsy A, Lotun K, Jansen R Conference Proceedings Of The Chiropractic Centenn 1995 Jul: 366-7

ABSTRACT: Introduction: Approximately 30-50 million adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure. Hypertension is associated with an increased risk for coronary artery disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, renal insufficiency and peripheral vascular disease. There has been some study of the effectiveness of spinal adjustments in the treatment of patients with essential hypertension. However, these studies have either been uncontrolled case studies, single trial experiments or retrospective cohort studies. A pilot study was initiated to determine the feasibility of conducting a randomized clinical trial that will examine both short and long-term effects of chiropractic adjustments in the treatment of patients with hypertension.
