S.O.T. began its life in Nebraska City, Nebraska, during the latte part of 1926, when Dr. M. B. DeJarnette conducted monthly classes for a few neighboring chiropractors at no charge. This was basically a get-together to exchange ideas on chiropractic. Dr. DeJarnette at that time was beginning to gather momentum and was beginning one of the large practices in the U.S.A. The first class took place in 1927 at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dr. DeJarnette’s first invitation was one class in which a registration fee of $5.00 was charged for two full days and one evening. Nine Nebraska chiropractors attended and postcard invitations were sent to 35 chiropractors
