Cranial Confusion: Cottam’s Chiropractic Craniopathy and Sutherland’s Osteopathic Technique

There are only two basic system of cranial adjusting: Cottam’s Cranial/Facial Adjusting Craniopathy from the chiropractic field and Sutherland’s Osteopathic Technique. Both Cottam and Sutherland have been taught in whole or in part, knowingly or unknowingly under other names. The ultimate confusion is that DeJarnette has brought Sutherland’s work to the chiropractic world with the cranial technique aspects of Sacro Occipital Technique. However DeJarnette, by using the name “Craniopathy”, created some confusion since Craniopathy is the name Cottam coined for his technique.
