ACA Council on Technic: Denver, Colorado June 1980 [re-published in Basal Facts ; 8(4): 211-21 ]
This paper was written at the request of the ACA Council on Technic so the chiropractic profession as a whole may develop a better understanding of the biomechanics of the pelvis as viewed by various specialties in chiropractic. The purpose of this treatise is to provide an understanding of the pelvis as viewed by Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT). At least 85% of all structural distortions are related in some way to chronic sacroiliac weight-bearing slip separations, known as Category 2. Most of these are not associated with localized pain. While trauma may cause subluxation of any joint or articulation, according to SOT the only two areas that really subluxate are the cranium and the pelvis, while the atlas adapts and the rest of the spine reacts. The biomechanics of the pelvis is more than the relationship of three or five bony segments, it is the foundation of total function and good health.
