Sacro Occipital Technique (S.O.T.) A System of Chiropractic

Getzoff H Am Chiro Aug 1990; 12(8): 9

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a system of chiropractic analysis and treatment based on the primary cranial sacral respiratory mechanism as developed and taught by Dr. M. B. DeJarnette. All systems of the body have both a direct and indirect relationship to the cranial sacral respiratory mechanism (endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, etc.). In SOT, structural analysis is based on objective clinical findings (indicators) using methods developed by Dr. DeJarnette. Aside from three specific structural disturbances of the myofascial and cranial sacral mechanism, Categories one, two and three, DeJarnette incorporates cranial adjusting, extremity adjusting, and chiropractic manipulative reflex technique (CMRT) – a system of organ function analysis and treatment as it relates to the spine, trapezius and occipital muscles.
